I wish I would have been around Houston while Screw was still alive. Robert Earl Davis, Jr. seemed to have love for all music. From the sound of his tapes (in hindsight) he was into almost all rap music, regardless of the beefs or fads going on around him at the time. Biggie and Pac on the same tape was a frequent highlight. Spice-1, E-40, Snoop appeared with Nas, Mase and Da Brat. I bet a bunch of southern-bred screw heads started listening to Slim after this tape in ‘99. That’s why I’ve never quite understood the Northside / Southside beef in Houston when screw was gaining popularity (even after talking to Watts about it last year). Seems like Screw would have been cool with it moving up north and letting some other dudes shine… but what the fuck do I know. Watts, too, man — that dude fucking loves music. It’s great. When I asked about BMC and dubstep, he said “Dub just sounds like slowed-down jungle to me”. It might have been because I was blazed out of my mind, but I damn near had an epiphany.

Eminem stans probably don’t even like listening to this shit (it’s got a bunch of dislikes on youtube — seriously, what?), and that’s contrary to what Screw (and screw) seems to have been about. He knew just how dope it sounds to have Em’s “Slim Shady” adlib slowed down.
